The Yale Key Free Z-Wave deadbolt lock with touchscreen combines a greatly secure lockset with an stylish electronic interactive touchscreen, which lets users to access their principles effortlessly with manual control or remote automated control. The Key Free design removes the keyway and the annoyance of re-keying your locks. Intended for seamless integration with any Z-Wave product or automated control systems. Monitor the position of this device and handling through a centralized controller. Voice guided programming makes set up easy also as updates to user info. This lock will fit in the place of your present deadbolt and is well-matched with all standard interior and outside doors. Tapered features of the deadbolt let it to be used in applications where the door isn’t perfectly aligned. The wireless Radio Frequency (RF) range of this lock is 50 -100 feet and will have to be at least that close to another network controller in the Wireless Z-Wave System. This RF range may be influenced by bordering objects and can be expanded based on the place of other Z-Wave devices in the system. If this unit is to be controlled and managed by a single network controller, it’s suggested that this Z-Wave lock be programmed through the centralized User Interface (UI) using a PC or hand-held device. This will ensure the best and most dependable communication to and from the deadbolt lock and centralized controller.

Recent reviews:

I bought this lock for a thick, big door. The door in question is 8 feet tall and 2 1/4 inches thick, which is big in the door world. I have some number of YRD220’s with Z-Wave, so to get this was a no brainer. I also love this lock because it does not offer a keyed entry, which is the whole idea to have digital entry I believe. Having some training in locksmithing, the idea of a key that is not double sided or coded is a complete sham – standard keyed locks may be defeated in seconds people.. Single sided keys have been around for a LONG time, and thieves learned how to get past them many many years ago. So, benefits to this lock? Works on big doors (but big door not obliged), and keyless lock. I did not know this lock existed, and if I had not spent so much on the YRD220’s, I’d go back and change them all out for the 240. Setting up the Z-Wave (if related) was super easy. Setting up user codes is easy. There is nothing about this lock I do not like – the interface is remarkable and looks really classy. Be told, the numbers pictured on the lock do not appear till you touch the lock with your palm or fist – which is awesome. The lock looks smooth, like it is just a big blank deadbolt. I have had schlage and Kwikset digital locks, this is far and away the more secure, advanced choice. EnjoyUPDATE:After some months of owning the deadbolt, I am still happy with it. I went ahead and bought Amazon’s rechargeable AA batteries and charger, just for my Yale deadbolts (the 4-5 that I have installed). Though the rechargeable batteries are costly, I think it’ll be a cost savings in the long run.

I own some number of of the Scalage Z-wave locks and I love the convenience. I have lived with them for many years and there is not much I do not like about the Schlages but I have generally wanted to attempt the Yale locks to see how they compare. I have over 40 Zwave devices hooked to SmartThings and really love the convenience that these bring to avoid keys and to offer remote access to friends and family when needed. Installation: alike to the Schlage. They both attach to a back plate, then the inside of the lock attaches to the backplate. The Yale has a separate Zwave radio part that you must plug in which lets them to sell the same lock with and without Z-wave. It is a simply plug in part and once nothing much to it. Setup:The Yale really shines here. I had no idea it did this when I ordered it so I was shocked when I powered it on and it started to talking to me. See my video for an example of using the voice prompted menus. The Schlage has a rather cryptic menu system that you pretty much can not use without the manual close. With the Yale, all you have to do is enter the master code and it’ll start talking to you. One other nice thing is that Yale lets YOU to set the master code, while Schlage locks come with a predetermined master code printed on them. If you forget the code, you must disassemble the lock to find the sticker on the inside with the code. Pairing with SmartThings was no better or worse than the Scalage’s for me. I had some trouble firstly caused by the distance from the hub (same problem with Schlage at this door). Once I brought the Hub near the door everything went well. Handling:pretty alike to use the two.

I just got it installed, so I can not talk about lasting durability and dependability, however it is working as projected on the 1st day. With Z-Wave, it’s still missing some features of the Sunnect lock I used to have. If you set it to auto lock the Sunnect could lock after some seconds every time you shut the door. If you do not want it to auto lock, then you just move the auto lock switch to the off position. With the Sunnect locks, when the auto lock is on, every time you close the door the door generally locks automatically. This is slick and smart. So, you never have to second guess if or not you remembered to lock it,This Yale door lock is dumb because, if you enable auto locking, it locks established only on the amount of seconds you configure it for (5-30 seconds). So, if you open the door with the keypad and leave it open while going back and forth bringing in groceries from your car, the deadbolt will close although the door is open and the system will “think” the door is locked although the door is really large open. Also, this Yale doesn’t have a toggle switch to easily turn the autolock on and off at will. Instead you have to reprogam it using the master code which is a annoyance. I wish the Yale lock had a strike plate sensor so that it can set to lock the deadbolt when the door is shut and so you may be able to make sure the door is really physically locked when the online position says it is locked. Having Z-Wave feature is better than nothing since you may be able to most likely guess that you most probably remembered to at least shut the door when you left if you forgot to lock it and you may be able to then remotely lock it with the app if you did forget. Plus you may be able to unlock it remotely with your smartphone for someone else without having to give them a code.
