Recent reviews:

Alright so I am not sure where to start. This is a decent motherboard, however I wish it was better. Since I am the 1st review I’d like to be as thorough as possible. PROS:One of the few motherboards with DDR3 support (Using Avexir Core series red 2133 2. 4gb ram)Nice Asus features like the & 34;Optimized& 34; overclock and EZ flash for bios upgrades. PCI-E x4 m. 2 slotEZ mode and advanced mode for the biosBIOS failsafe feature, plug a DVD or USB in and it’ll fix the BIOS with the file. Orange/red LED along the edges that you may decide to & 34;breathe (pulse like effect),& 34; stay on, or stay off. (photo attached, the lights are by the PCI slots)CONS:Only 4 USB 3 ports on the back and only 2 2. 0 ports. This is evident by the pictures, however it still is not much. Only 4 SATA III ports. Again, this is in the description, however it is still a small amount. Get an adapter is you use more than 4 SATA devices. No Nvidia SLI supportNo USB type CWhen making BIOS changes in the EZ mode, if you switch over to the advanced mode you lose those changes. I updated the BIOS,, then tried making some RAM speed modifications, which did not work (forgot to use XMP ). It took a really long time for me to reset the CMOS and get it to boot again, hours. This was most likely user error, however it still was a bit frustrating since I thought it may have died on me. Be sure you install Windows using the UEFI boot, or it will not work. If you’re going to use a drive from another system that is not UEFI, you may have to format the drive (if it is MBR). Also if you’re clean installing Windows 10, and you upgraded from a last OS, you’ll have to install 7/8,, then do the upgrade to 10.

Good motherboard for a great price for the new LGA1151 chipsets (new Intel skylake processors). This was one of the only boards I could find that supported DDR3 and came from a good/reputable maker (Asus). Sadly most skylake motherboards are now going DDR4 which cost more and also means a more $$ path for those who already have DDR3 sitting in our old motherboards. This motherboard is a good agreement for those who need an upgrade and do not want to go with the DDR4 path (benchmarks have seen no real gains by going to DDR4).

I’m now trying to get a substitute unit working. It can be the RAM I’m using, however without broad testing I do not know for sure. My frustration with this motherboard, or more-so with ASUS, is that they indicated it could work with DDR3 RAM, which I have. Turns out, it only works with DDR3 RAM that’s on this list that you may dig around the web site to find. I am happy it works for others, I wish it worked for me.
